You are invited to journey with us as Adeline and Evie grow.

Sesame Street Live!

Here are some clips of Adeline from Sesame Street Live. She LOVED it and I'm pretty sure she has told everyone about it since then!! It was such a joy for us to watch her enjoy the show.

Babbling

Evie's favorite things to do these days...babble and laugh at her big sis!

Adeline's new hair cut

I gave Adeline a big girl hair cut a few weeks ago. It took us a few times to get it even! She LOVES it. I think it makes her look much older. Here are 2 good pictures of the new do...

Halloween

Well, as usual, we had a busy October and Halloween. We traveled to Gatlinburg and spent a few days with my friends, then went to the game, trick-or-treated in Knoxville, then home to Nashville. Adeline and Evie went to Knoxville and tailgated with us for a while Saturday. I wasn't sure how they were going to react to all the activity, but they both LOVED it! Adeline danced and of course ate all day and loved all the people! Evie was as happy as could be and tried to drink some beer...not a good sign since she is only 6 months old!! Adeline didn't do much trick-or-treating because it was raining, but she did get to spend some time with her Grammy and Granddaddy and the Thomas family. They were both pumpkins this year because Adeline had to dress "like my baby sister Evie Evelyn" as she said!
Evie is still growing like a weed. She will be 6 months this Friday. She loves laughing at her silly big sis and makes lots of sounds.

Love the laughs!

Evie has turned into quite the laughing machine these days. She gets tickled easily while she is playing, watching her big sis and during raspberries on the belly!

Fall fun!

I can't believe it's already mid October. Fall is here, the weather is beautiful and lots of fun at the Thomas house. We have traveled to Knoxville for some UT football games, gone to the pumpkin patch, the Nashville Zoo, the outdoor mall, the park, birthday parties and had a few play dates. Adeline LOVES to "GO". She doesn't care where, she just wants to be out with people. Evie is still as sweet as pie! Our little bear has found her feet. She holds on to them and rocks from side to side when we put her on her back. We go to the doctor next month for her 6 month check-up. I'm not sure how much she weighs, but she looks bigger and longer everyday! She is catching up FAST to her tiny big sis!

A movin and a squeelin...

This is Evie's favorite thing to do these days...sit in her Bumbo, squeel and 'fly' away. She is SO precious! We thought Adeline was an easy baby, but Evie is easier. She is happy and content all the time. We are enjoying every minute with her; she's just growing up too fast!!

ROLLING!

Little peanut rolled over for the first time this weekend! Adeline and I have been practicing this skill with Evie for a while, but she didn't seem very interested. She really likes to play on her belly (unlike her big sis who NEVER wanted to be on her belly), so she didn't care on turn over. Saturday evening we were at our neighbors house watching the Tennessee/Florida game and over she went! She looked a little surprised at first, but Adeline and I reassured her that it was a good thing. I put her back on her belly and she rolled again, this time with a HUGE gummy grin!! Adeline VERY impressed. She kept saying "good girl peanut, roll again" which was followed by her showing her own rolling skills...forward rolls.

Time for cereal!!

Evie had her 4 month check up last week. She is doing fantastic!! She is quite the chunk, 70th percentile in her length and 60th in weight (25 inches and 13 lbs, 4oz)...much bigger and longer than her little sis was. We started her on rice cereal and some fruits and veggies last week. There are videos below. She started sucking on her lip while we were feeding her. So far she loves everything she has tried. We are still waiting for her to roll over. Big sis, Adeline, has been helping her practice this skill. Evie thinks her big sister is the funniest thing. She laughs at her all the time! We are certainly blessed with beautiful, loving girls. All is well : )

Trip to Richmond

We went to Richmond to visit some family over Labor Day. It was a nice relaxing trip. Adeline of course had a blast at Meme and Pawpaw's house and everyone was glad to see little Evie. Lanie, Adam and Jenna were there too. Adeline had another birthday celebration while we were there, so she now thinks every week is her birthday!! Meme had a get together/pool party for us too which was lots of fun. Adeline enjoyed hanging out with cousin Jenna. I'm attaching some video of them playing ring around the rosey and Adeline putting Jenna to sleep like a babydoll. They are precious!

HAPPY 2ND BIRTHDAY ADELINE!

Adeline turned 2 yesterday, August 23, 2009. We had her party at our house Saturday. She was SO excited about having a "birthday tea party" she called it. We had about 12 kids and even more adults show up for the party. She LOVED it! Every time she opened a present she said, "OOOHHH" even before she knew what it was. It was lots of fun!! The cookie monster cake was a success as well...go mommy! Our little girl is so grown up. This video is of us singing happy birthday to her. As you can see, she liked the attention : )

Baby Ashley is here!!

I just received a phone call from my mother-in-law...baby Ashley has arrived. She is 5, 5 and 18 3/4 inches long. Mommy and baby are doing well. Yay for more sweet girls!!

Sweet, sweet coos

Evie has recently found her voice. She loves to sit and coo at us...especially her big sis!

Adeline is SO BIG!!

We read a book 2 times about putting a box outside your bedroom door. Then you put all your pacies in it for the pacie fairy to take to all the babies and the fairy leaves a big girl present. Adeline decided Sunday morning to put one in there. I made sure she understood that once it was in, it didn't come out...so she looked at me like I was an idiot and said, "pacie fairy box", then followed with "big girl present". So they all went in the box. Daddy then came in to make her crib a big girl bed for a smooth 'big girl' transition. She absolutely LOVES her big girl bed and has been reading in it with her big girl comforter. The pacie fairy brought her big girl present while she was napping (Grover and Big Bird animals). So far she has done very well being a 'big girl'. She now has a pretty high fever and is still doing well. I'm so proud of my buggy! We are excited for her 2nd birthday party coming up next weekend (the 22nd). She has a lot of friends coming to celebrate.
Evie is doing well too. She weighed 12 pounds, 3 ounces when we went in for her ear check up last week. Her ear is fine now and she eats more every day...such a butterball. She has totally outgrown her 0-3 month clothes and will be out of 3-6 month clothes very soon.

Starting School

Evie started school 3 weeks ago when I went back to work. She has been doing great so far, although she got hand, foot and mouth last week, which wasn't fun...along with an ear infection...yuck! She is better now and back at school. Yesterday she was propped up on her belly smiling and laughing at her daddy. We had never heard her laugh so loud and so much as she was. It was the cutest thing ever...of course I didn't get it on video, but I'm sure she will do it again. She is really a great baby, very pleasant (unless she is hungry) and sleeping pretty well too. I think she will be rolling over VERY soon!
Update on Adeline...she is going pee pee in the potty more frequent these days. I wouldn't say she is potty trained yet, but we are getting there. She has had some sort of potty anxiety, so we haven't pushed the issue, but she goes when she wants to. She is also having bath anxiety, which I think is related to the potty...but not to worry, mommy fixed it...bath time is now in mommy's bathtub WITH MOMMY! Oh, it's lots of fun! Adeline doesn't know this yet, but I've ordered a special paci book for her. It should be here any day and then the paci will be gone. It could be bad, we will see!

lots of smiles

Evie is all smiles for her great grandma at the beach. She was 9 weeks here...So sweet!

Fun in the sand

Adeline loved this little area Mike and Adam dug in the sand. I think she would have stayed there all day if we had let her!

Beach Trip 2009

We just returned from our beach vacation. It was little Evie's first flight and Adeline's 4th. Adeline was a great big sister and Evie did very well. We had a nice relaxing trip. Adeline wasn't so sure about the sand and water at first, but loved it by mid week. We built lots of sandcastles and ate lots of snacks : ) I will post a video clip of Adeline playing in the sand soon. Evie also enjoyed the beach, although she enjoyed napping in the shade more than anything else!

Today is Evie's first day at school, Adeline's first day back since Evie was born and my first day back to work. So far everyone is dong well. Adeline was ready to get back and see her friends and I was ready to get back to my routine as well!

We are LOVING being parents of two sweet girls!

Singing with daddy

Adeline has always loved music and dancing, but she is now singing along to her favorites. She likes it when daddy sings with her and of course she is in charge of what he sings and when! She is such a big girl these days...our little toddler. Adeline will be going back to her school in 2 weeks. She asks about her friends all the time. I know she will be happy to see them. We can't believe she will be 2 in August!!

Jenna dancing with the Little People Bus

Lanie and Jenna came to visit today. She was LOVING the music on the Little People bus...so cute!

Evie is 7 weeks old!

Evie is 7 weeks. She got a great report at her dr visit 2 weeks ago. She is over 9 pounds (big girl) and getting bigger every day. She is doing very well at home and started sleeping through the night at 5 weeks. We were SO excited about that! She sleeps from about 10pm until 6am. We are excited to go to the beach this Friday with both girls. It will be Evie's first flight. She gets her shots before we leave...

Potty Time!

EXCITING NEWS! Adeline pee peed in the potty for the first time this week! She was dry when I got her up in the morning, so we went to sit...and sit...and read. Next thing I knew she said, "Oh" and there it was. She was excited, we danced, ate chocolate (at 7am...Torrey would be proud!) then had to call daddy, Grammy and Meme. Since then we have sat many times and read books, but no more pee pee, not yet!

Some of my favorite phrases...

I wanted to share some of my favorite phrases Adeline is saying these days. She is hilarious and talks NON STOP! When she wants someone to hold her she says "mommy, hold you?". Since she has a little sister in the house now she says this ALL the time, "Evie dere"...like we don't know Evie is sitting next to us! I personally think it's funny when she says, "good job Adeline" and the best is "good girl daddy!" Oh well, daddy does live with lots of girls!
Miss Evie had a great 2 week check up this week. She gained almost a pound. She weighs 7 lbs, 10 oz. Her pediatrician was happy with her weight gain and her chubby cheeks were the talk of the dr office! We go back in 2 weeks...
Also, be looking for a new blog address. We are changing our address...can't leave Miss Evie out. It will more than likely change to "thethomasgirls", more to come...

Adeline and Evie meet at the hospital!

SHE'S HERE!! Evelyn Sarah Thomas, "Evie", was born May 7, 2009 at 1:54pm. She weighed 6 pounds, 14 ounces and was 19 1/2 inches long. She looks VERY much like Adeline did as a newborn and is as sweet as can be!! She is already a week old and everything is going well. She is sleeping pretty well (for a newborn) and big sister, Adeline, LOVES her!
My grandmother is staying with us for the first 2 weeks and she has been awesome! I'm not quite sure how I will handle these two girls once she is gone!
I am posting 2 videos of Adeline meeting Evie the day we left the hospital. It was truly a special moment that we will cherish forever! We can't wait to watch them grow together and bond as sisters.

Scetti and toot

"scetti" is Adeline's favorite food these days and as you can see it gets everywhere! This video is funny. We were trying to capture her saying "scetti" and got a little extra...listen for her telling me she tooted!

Waiting on baby Evie

We are getting close now to meeting baby Evie. My dr thinks it will be sooner than the 4-5 weeks I actually have left of my pregnancy. Adeline loves to talk about "ebie" in mommy's belly and check out her room. For now, mommy is supposed to be 'resting' so that Evie will stay put for another week or so. I am attaching a picture of Adeline's big girl hair cut. it's very cute and she likes to put her hand in it and say "haia cut"...such a girlie girl!!

Another milestone...First Hair cut!

Adeline had her first hair cut last night. She was very good...daddy entertained her while mommy did all the cutting. She looks SO cute. It is right at her shoulders now. I cut almost 2 inches off of it. It definitely makes her look more like a little girl and her hair looks a lot more healthy. I will post a picture of it soon...

House updates

Well, we have officially been in our house for a month now. We have gotten a LOT accomplished...all boxes are out of the house, curtains and shades are up, Adeline and Evie's rooms are pretty much complete and we are ready to start landscaping the yard. We all LOVE our new home and it really feels like home to us. Adeline has a nice playroom upstairs which she enjoys as well as playing in her room. Susan and Herb have been here twice now to help us with things. Thank goodness for great in-laws!! Lanie, Adam and Jenna came to visit for a few days and my mom came for a day too.
We had a baby shower at Lanie's house last weekend. It was lots of fun and Evie got some nice things. We have less than 7 weeks before little Evie arrives and we have a few more baby items to get. We are all anxious to meet little "E"!

Time to move!

We are excited to say our closing date is this Thursday afternoon...woo hoo! We will be very busy all weekend between getting out of our tiny apartment, getting movers to get our things from storage and emptying our POD unit. Makes me tired just thinking of it. Susan and Herb are coming in to help which will be VERY nice. I know Adeline will love playing with Grammy over the weekend and mommy will be glad to have Grammy keep her busy. I can't wait to see Adeline in the new house with all her toys. Every time we have gone to do something in the house, Adeline laughs and runs all over it. We will all be happy to have our space again! Until next time...

Circus fun and Head, Shoulders, pick your nose...

Adeline was sick Friday night throwing up. We aren't sure what was wrong, she didn't have a fever. It was our first experience with this throwing up and awake all night excitement! She has never gotten sick like that, so it scared her pretty bad when she woke up. Saturday morning she seemed just fine...her happy bubbly self. We had circus tickets for Saturday afternoon and decided to go since she appeared to be fine. Of course, all three of us were sleep deprived by this point, but it was still fun! Adeline didn't want to take her eyes off anything the entire first half. We kept asking her if she wanted to take off her coat and she immediately responded each time with a decisive "No". She loved her snow cone as well as the elephant bowl it came in! We left during the second half due to tiredness...and lack of animals to watch.

Ok, this video is hilarious. Adeline LOVES to sing and do hand motions to songs, etc. Here's head, shoulders with a little bit of a distraction.

Baptist Hospital Tour

Last night, Mike, Adeline and I went to Baptist Hospital for a tour of labor and delivery. Adeline was excited to see there were other children touring with us...she calls all children "bebies" even when they are older than her. One of the little boys, who was at least 3, had a pacifier in his mouth, so she was obsessed with trying to get his "paci". Anyway, after about 35 minutes, we ended right outside the nursery. We got the first taste of what she will be like with baby Evie. first of all, Adeline brought her baby doll with her last night (because it goes most places with us these days!). When she saw the babies in the nursery, her little face lit up. She pointed, knocked on the window, called them "beebbby", showed me and Mike and everyone around us. She did NOT want to leave the nursery window. She did not understand why she couldn't go in there to hold them. We finally ha to wave goodbye, blow them all kisses and kiss them through the window so we could go home. We are glad she loves babies, we just hope she will love it when one comes home to stay with her!! Looks like she will be right by her little sister's side!

So much holiday fun

After two and a half weeks of traveling during the holidays, we are finally back in Nashville. We started our holiday excursion a few days before Christmas, driving from Nashville to Knoxville to see what Santa brought Adeline. We saw grammy and granddaddy, aunt Christy and uncle Chris and cousin Catie. Adeline and Catie had a blast playing together as usual. Santa brought Adeline a train, train table, puzzles, bean bag chair, book rack, Elmo and some more Little People. Her grammy and granddaddy got her another pretty baby doll, baby stroller and the refrigerator for her kitchen. She got even more toys from Chris and Christy!
Then it was off the Richmond where we saw meme, grandpa, aunt Lanie, uncle Adam, cousin Jenna, great aunt Cheryl, great uncle David, great grandma, nanny and granny. There were so many people to see in Richmond and not enough time. Adeline got more baby dolls and baby doll accessories....we are hoping she will practice on her own baby before her little sister arrives! She also got more Elmos and a Barney...who she kisses ALL the time!...a Radio Flyer wagon, and toys toys toys! While we were in Richmond we also were able to see our extended family, which was nice.
After Richmond, we were off to Asheville, NC to the Biltmore and to stay at the Grove Park Inn. Adeline LOVED spending more time with little cousin Jenna. I'm pretty sure she kissed her and called her name "Nenna" every few minutes! The Grove Park Inn was beautiful and a wonderful little get-a-way!
We are now counting down the days until our house is complete. We are looking at a close date of February 4th and we are keeping our fingers crossed that it is not delayed too much after that date. So far we are on schedule! Mike, herb and Chris finished tiling our bathrooms and laundry room last weekend. We have been VERY pleased with the quality of work and are SO ready to get out of our tiny apartment. we should be settled in our house before Adeline's little sister arrives in May. We are very excited to have so many wonderful things happening in our lives right now. We have decided that baby girl #2 will be named Evelyn Sarah Thomas...Evelyn after her great grandmother, who has been so special in Adeline's life so far. We will call her Evie. More to come I'm sure on Evie, but the pregnancy has been going well and she is definitely a STRONG kicker!
We look forward to many visits at our new house soon!

Riding in her new wagon in Richmond

Adeline got this nice wagon from her great aunt Cheryl and great uncle David (who are also her godparents) in Richmond. The fun continues....

Santa comes to Knoxville...

Adeline got this awesome train table and train from Santa (who had to come to Knoxville this year since our house is not yet complete). This clip is her first encounter with the choo choo at Grammy and Granddaddy's house. We can't wait to take it to our new house very soon!
